Why is period 13 paid later in 2026?

Albert Heijn pays your salary per 4-week period, 13 times a year. Normally, period 13 of 2026 would be paid on Monday January 4, 2027.
However, 2026 has 53 weeks instead of 52. That is why period 13 lasts 5 weeks this year (November 30, 2026 to January 3, 2027). This means:
- You receive your period 13 salary on **Monday January 11, 2027**, a week later than usual
- The period 13 salary is based on **5 weeks** instead of 4
- Do you receive a fixed allowance every period? It is increased pro rata from 4 to 5 weeks
- You do not build up extra leave entitlement or choice budget over week 53. Under the collective agreement these are already calculated over the full calendar year, so extra build-up would count twice
Keep in mind that there are five weeks between your period 12 salary (December 7, 2026) and January 11, 2027.
